Treat the earth well.
It was not given to you by your parents,
it was loaned to you by your children.
We do not inherit the Earth from our Ancestors,
we borrow it from our Children.

~ Ancient Indian Proverb
The story you are about to read is true.
The name(s) may have been changed to protect the
stupid...

Bozo criminal for today comes from Midland, Texas. Bozo Jimmy Wallace decided to hold up a small
mom and pop grocery on the outskirts of town. He pulled off the robbery but was quickly
apprehended. The problem was his disguise--or lack of one. The Bozo was completely naked. After
getting his money, Jimmy fled on foot. A naked man running down the streets of Midland, Texas draws
a little attention. In fact, several people called to report him and he was quickly apprehended. What
confirms his status as a true bozo is his reasoning behind stripping. He said he thought if he wore
clothes, it would make him more easily identifiable.

1828 ~ Cherokee receive their first printing press
The first printing press designed to use the newly invented Cherokee alphabet arrives at New Echota, Georgia. The
General Council of the Cherokee Nation had purchased the press with the goal of producing a Cherokee-language
newspaper. The press itself, however, would have been useless had it not been for the extraordinary work of a young
Cherokee named Sequoyah, who invented a Cherokee alphabet.

1848 ~ John Quincy Adams suffers a stroke
On this day in 1848, just as he stands up from his desk in the House of Representatives to defend his “no” vote on a
bill, former President John Quincy Adams suddenly collapses from a cerebral hemorrhage. House members carried
him to a bed in the Speaker of the House’s private chambers and immediately summoned his wife Louisa. By the time
she arrived, he was not able to recognize her. His last words supposedly were, “This is the end of earth, but I am
content.”

1948 ~ NASCAR, Inc.
Six days after its first race was held, NASCAR was officially incorporated as the National Association for Stock Car
Racing, with race promoter Bill France as president. From the beginning, stock car racing had a widespread appeal
with its fan base. As the legend goes, the sport evolved from Southern liquor smugglers who souped up their pre-war
Fords to outrun the police. NASCAR brought the sport organization and legitimacy. It was Bill France who realized that
product identification would increase enthusiasm for the sport. He wanted the fans to see the cars they drove to the
track win the races on the track. By 1949, all the postwar car models had been released, so NASCAR held a 150-mile
race at the Charlotte Speedway to introduce its Grand National Division. The race was restricted to late-model strictly
stock automobiles. NASCAR held nine Grand National events that year. By the end of the year, it was apparent that
the strictly stock cars could not withstand the pounding of the Grand Nationals, so NASCAR drafted rules to govern the
changes drivers could make to their cars. Modified stock car racing was born. Starting in 1953, the major auto makers
invested heavily in stock car racing teams, believing that good results on the track would translate into better sales in
the showroom. In 1957, rising production costs and tightened NASCAR rules forced the factories out of the sport.
Today NASCAR racing is the fastest growing spectator sport in America.

1965 ~ Malcolm X is assassinated
Malcolm X is killed while giving a speech at the Audubon Ballroom in New York City.
Malcolm X had split from the Nation of Islam almost a year before and had escaped several other attempts on his life in
the subsequent months. Reportedly, he was going to publicly reveal the names of the assassins who had been sent to
kill him, but was killed at the Audubon Ballroom before he had the opportunity. Three Black Muslim men were later
convicted of the crime, though their guilt has long been in doubt; others believe that they were indeed guilty but were
not the only perpetrators.

1971 ~ Tornadoes move across Mississippi River Delta
On this day in 1971, the Mississippi River Delta is pounded by powerful tornadoes that kill more than 100 people. The
storm that caused the twisters moved up from the bayous of Louisiana through Mississippi to Tennessee. Hundreds of
people were injured across the three states.

1972 ~ Nixon arrives in China for talks
In an amazing turn of events, President Richard Nixon takes a dramatic first step toward normalizing relations with the
communist People's Republic of China (PRC) by traveling to Beijing for a week of talks. Nixon's historic visit began the
slow process of the re-establishing diplomatic relations between the United States and communist China.
Dream Catchers

A
n ancient Chippewa tradition
The dream net has been made
For many generations
Where spirit dreams have played.

Hung above the cradle board,
Or in the lodge up high,
The dream net catches bad dreams,
While good dreams slip on by.

Bad dreams become entangled
Among the sinew thread.
Good dreams slip through the center hole,
While you dream upon your bed.

This is an ancient legend,
Since dreams will never cease,
Hang this dream net above your bed,
Dream on, and be at peace.

It is not how old you are, but how you are old.

-Jules Renard,
Writer (1864-1910)
When we accomplish things it becomes contagious.... and we catch it ourself .
Once we experience how great it feels to accomplish even just a little bit... we
oftern find ourselves hunger for more and more. .

One we know the confident feeling  that we get  from  actually finishing a
projuct and from being able to get something done... we begin to relize we
anything in within our reach.

Each of us are creative ... productive ... and effective in our own unique and
special way. We need to continue to explore ... examine...  and  tune our
personal understanding of the passion that lives within our core.

To accomplish this we need to  put time into learning "us".. into doing what
feels natural.. what feels right and most of all what brings us joy. We will be
totally amazed and thrilled at all we can accomplish.

Putting effort  to our projects is truly a joy... when  that effort aligns with our
purpose. We need to find that purpose... and then make the effort ~ this in turn
will get lead us to our passion... and we will be hooked on accomplishment.
